Crazy Busy Day...

...so today was a bit on the nutty side. I went to work after calling my Dad to arrange a lunch date. This was a bit of a momentous occasion, because I think the last time Dad and I had a meal on our own I was probably in eighth grade and we went to the truck stop that has since turned into a titty bar. But this time it was my treat to take him someplace in my city. We went to G.T. South's, and it was yummy. As usual.

...lots of things are going on at work these days. My usual work holds my attention, but other jobs have been added to my plate. It's exciting and stressful...all at the same time. I'm learning more and more to manage my workload. I don't think I can be a person anymore who does one thing completely before moving on to the next task. Some things should be worked on each day, and I can't just try to clean out my inbox before doing them. Am hoping to get a better grip on it.

....I totally love how green things are becoming. Spring and Fall are by far my favorite times of year. I love how everything seems so new in the Spring. It's time for new beginnings and fresh starts. That's what nature does, no? And the Fall is just a wonderful time for me. I love the smell of the dried leaves in the air. By far one of my favorite smells.

...I could so do with some warmer temps, though. Am tired of being cold!

...Speaking of being cold, we ditched our velour blanket this weekend. It seemed like such a good idea at the time.... being all snuggly warm under a soft blanket. We just didn't anticipate that being so snuggly warm would make us sweat through our jammies. So we turned it in for a cotton blanket, similar to the one we had (and wore out) when we first got married. And we're sleeping a bit more comfortably. Until one of us has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.... then a bit of insomnia kicks in. Good times, getting older is....

Collin....

...so Collin is turning into a young man before my very eyes. It's very hard for me to get my head around sometimes....
...so last month I put patches on Collin's Boy Scout shirt... not knowing that the neighbor-lady, and one of Collin's Scoutmasters, had taught him to sew his own patches....If I'd have known that, things would have been less dramatic in my house.
...another thing with the Boy Scouts was for Collin to earn a badge for cooking. He started the badge about a year ago, but has never taken the final steps in getting it taken care of. Well, this morning, he did part of that badge. He made us a feast of a breakfast.... pancakes and bacon! And I did very little to help him.
...We came across a picture collage of photos of our early family days. Collin was such a sweet sweet baby. It's so hard to believe that he's growing up. He's still sweet, for the most part. I'm so very fortunate.

Love Him!

...so I was getting a lazy-Saturday-morning cuddle in with Griffin this morning... when he asks me... "Mommy, when am I going to find a woman like you to marry?"

Too Cute...

...so I was talking to my neighbors last night, and they were telling me about the twins and getting off the bus in the afternoon. He said that they will hold hands on their way down the cul-de-sac, seeming to be very protective of one another. And this is something I never get to see, as I'm not home at this time. But it painted a very sweet picture of my little nutjobs.

...Collin's now taller than my friend Katie. What the hell has happened to my little man? He will be taller than all of us soon. And his feet? Size ten and a half shoe! Aaron wears a seven and a half, for cripe's sake!

...I'm starting to get excited about my impending trip to Tulsa to see my cousins. I'm looking forward to the time spent in the car by myself and with my mom and aunt. A very welcome break it will be!

Oh, Hello!

I know I've been a neglectful blogger. It's been a crazy couple of weeks around my house. Bad crazy and good crazy, but all crazy busy. And because I am having trouble being clever, I'll bullet-point:

  • We had to take Erin Lou into the ER to get a saline drip because she'd thrown up so much she was dehydrated....she was right as rain the day after and has been eating like a horse ever since.
  • My niece got her tonsils out last week and came down with post-op infection coupled with dehydration (come on! I wouldn't want to drink either after all that!). My thoughts are with her and her momma as she recovers.
  • The kids had Spring Break....I'm thinking Aaron's glad it's over.... along with any parent who got to spend the week with their kids.
  • Aaron turned 33 last Tuesday....we ate out all day in celebration!
  • We spent Easter weekend with my family. It was a good visit. I'm happy to report that Grandad is now in a long-term care facility and is making WONDERFUL progress. He's moving around (very slowly, but very well for someone who spent three months out of commission and kissed death full on the mouth!) and eating again. Gran hopes to have him sprung out and back at home by May 1. As my momma keeps saying.... the man's a walking miracle!
  • The twins have been sparring with Collin and me on Friday evenings. They are cute as they can be with it. Griffin is really getting interested, and even volunteered for one of the "matches" that we have at the end of class. Terribly cute.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Getting Big....

....This picture cracks me up. Griffin wanted so badly to ride this jeep around. It's battery operated.... and made for toddlers. But Grandma let him ride it anyway. And he looked a little silly.
....so we're kind of in the dumps today. We were supposed to go camping this weekend and see a musical directed by a friend of mine. Bet you can't guess what happened?
