Out of the Mouth Of Babes....

....so in effort not to say "for fuck's sake" as is one of my past favorite phrases, I've taken to saying "God bless it!" Perhaps a little less drastic than FFS, but, in Aaron's eyes, cussing nonetheless. Well, we'd just eaten some ice cream, and Griffin was crawling around on the back of the sofa behind me (as is customary, but grates on poor dad's nerves), when all of a sudden, he says "God bless it!" *snort*

...Watch what you say, mom!

Don't worry, Noah used to say "damnit" when he was about three and at KinderCare. We just pretended we didn't know where on earth he would have learned that word. Here's a hint: He didn't learn it from Scott!

I dread the day when I have to stop the cussing - or at least tone it down...you and I both know that's not going to be easy :-)

It's only going to get worse. Caitlyn now tells me when I swear, "Mom fuck is a bad word, you shouldn't say it." Or my favorite, when she comes up to me to snitch on someone else swearing, "Mom, grandma said bitch." Oh the joys. Whether you tone it down or not now, they have heard it, processed it, and know it. And soon will use it on you. Typically in a place that is terribly crowded so that people can snicker at you.
ie....The Children's Place, trying on pants, pants are twisted around girl's nonexistence hips. She looks down and says, "What the fuck is going on here." Luckily, all moms in the stores, and they understand my shame. I see their shoulders shaking with laughter.
Yes it will happen to you too.

my son said "shit" when he was about 13 months old. i think we must've stopped saying it so much, because he hasn't said it in awhile
